I listened to the interview with the writer Catherine Siguret on Radio J.
I immediately fell under the spell of the story of her latest novel that she explained during the interview.
I couldn't wait for the end of the interview that I had already ordered the novel online, I couldn't wait to read it.
I received it in my mailbox after a few days.
I read half of the book in one go in one evening, I laughed out loud, sometimes with tears in my eyes, I could imagine a time in France in the early 60s, historical facts.
Everything is very well detailed.
I highly recommend this novel!
In the early 1960s, the Normandy village of Veules-les-Roses is shaken by an earthquake that is more serious than it seems: the letters intended for Santa Claus receive a response!
Behind this fantasy hides Magdeleine, a post office clerk. Determined to give children dreams, she unseals the mail, flouting the PTT regulations.

In the background of the little story, the “scandalous” Brigitte Bardot, Françoise Dolto, the liberation of women, the joy of the electromechanical broom and evenings in front of the television, but also the scars of the Second World War and the Algerian War. Because in this novel carried by a luminous woman's destiny, Catherine Siguret also paints the portrait of a society and an era.
Catherine Siguret is a writer, screenwriter and journalist. Author of essays and novels, she also lends her pen to witnesses of society, anonymous or personalities. The lady of the post office was inspired by the true story which, in 1962, gave birth to the Official Secretariat of Santa Claus.
